COVERMAT®

Glass mineral wool

Glass wool with a woolly consistency is obtained by melting from sand and recycled glass (cullet) (standard PR EN ISO 9229) 1. It was invented in 1938, by Russell Games Slayter of Owens-Corning2, since it has been used extensively for thermal insulation, sound insulation and fire protection of all types of buildings3.

Elastomeric foam

An elastomer is a polymer exhibiting elastic properties, obtained after crosslinking. It supports very large deformations before rupture.

Phenolic

Phenolic (or resolic) foam is a very rigid, closed-pore foam made from an emulsion of a phenoplast (a phenol-formaldehyde resin that was once used to produce bakelite). It is used for its thermal insulation properties, its resistance to crushing and its heat resistance1. It is one of the best insulation on the market: more efficient than polystyrene, and can replace polyurethane foam.

Polyisocyanurate

Polyisocyanurate, abbreviated PIR, is essentially an insulator belonging to the family of rigid polyurethane (PUR) foams.

Extruded polystyrene

Cousin of expanded polystyrene, extruded polystyrene (XPS, also called rigid styrofoam) differs by its method of manufacture, which gives it specific properties. In particular, very high mechanical resistance but also to compression and water, while maintaining very good thermal insulation qualities.

Cellular glass

Cellular glass is used as a thermal insulating material in constructions and buildings and has most of the usual properties of glass: resistance to water and fire, hence its attractiveness for the construction of a building, stability and resistance. to compression. However, like any glass, it remains a fragile material which increases handling constraints during construction.
